Pink Martini w/ The Von Trapps
Pink Martini, a multilingual “little orchestra” featuring 10-12 musicians, has performed all over the world. With their debut album in ’97, Pink Martini quickly became an international phenomenon with nominations from France’s Victoires de la Musique Awards in 2000 for “Song of the Year” and “Best New Artist.” They then released four more albums that all sold well over 2.5 million copies and have gone gold in France, Canada, Greece, and Turkey.
Pink Martini formed from band member Thomas Lauderdale’s desire to provide more inclusive music for political fundraisers- crossing genres of classical, jazz, and old-fashioned pop. They have since played with more than 50 orchestras around the world. Their newest release, titled “Get Happy,” features singers China Forbes and Storm Large along with special guests Rufus Wainwright, The von Trapps & Ari Shapiro and includes Charlie Chaplin’s song “Smile” with legendary Phyllis Diller.
