Austin City Limits Live and Transmission Events Present Super Collider U.S. Tour Megadeth with Fear Factory and special guest Nonpoint
Formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983 by Dave Mustaine and Dave Ellefson, Megadeth hoped to create a jazz-oriented progressive strain of heavy metal based on chops as much as emotional aggression. As one of the pioneers of the American thrash metal movement, the band rose to international fame in the 1980s and is ranked as one of the “Big Four of Thrash” along with Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax. Over the band’s thirty years, over 20 different people have performed as an official part of the group, with Dave Mustaine being the only consistent member. The band is known for its distinctive, instrumental and technical style featuring dense, intricate passages, trade-off guitar solos, and recurring lyrical themes such as personal relationships, religion, politics, addiction and war.
Megadeth has sold over fifty million records worldwide with six consecutive albums being certified platinum or multi-platinum in the United States. As of 2013, the band has received a total of 11 Grammy nominations. They now return with a new tour known as the SUPER COLLIDER U.S. Tour featuring Fear Factory and special guest, Nonpoint.
