Tickets to ACL TV tapings are not for sale.  A limited number of tickets are available free for the general public and are distributed through a lottery system on the ACL blog.  For a chance to win taping tickets go to www.austincitylimits.org; winners are notified by email.  Ticket giveaways are posted approximately one week prior to tapings.

Austin City Limits is proud once again to turn over the stage to a band of hometown heroes: Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears. An explosive blend of raw electric blues, Southern-fried funk and turbocharged punk & roll, the band has been burning down every stage they stride since 2007. Lewis had been playing with a blues trio, building a rep for no-holds-barred performances, when University of Texas student Zach Ernst booked him to play UT’s annual Forty Acres Fest. A kinship formed, and Lewis and Ernst put together the Honeybears to flesh out Lewis’ sound and ravage River City clubs. Once local titans Spoon caught wind of the band, they took the Honeybears on tour, exposing a national audience to the septet’s roughhouse funk. Performances at 2008’s Lollapolooza and Austin City Limits Music Festival and a contract with venerable Americana label Lost Highway followed. Support for the group’s rip-roaring debut Tell ‘em What Your Name Is (produced by Spoon’s Jim Eno) included tours with both North Mississippi Hill Country blues duo Cedric Burnside & Lightnin’ Malcolm and protopunk veterans the New York Dolls. Scandalous, the Honeybears’ recently released follow-up, is even more potent than the debut – funkier, harder rocking, more soulful. “Gritty, raunchy and real, [Lewis’] music is not for the squeamish, but experiencing it fully can be genuinely cathartic,” boasts Scandalous’ pre-release publicity.
